The food industry is a complex, global collective of diverse businesses that supplies much of the food energy consumed by the world population. Only subsistence farmers, those who survive on what they grow, can be considered outside of the scope of the modern food industry.
Within the food industry GMP regulations are applicable as a system to ensure that products meet food safety, quality and legal requirements. HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) can be part of GMP and is a systematic program to assure food safety by means of risk prevention.
